IndiaAI Takes Innovative Strides for Safer AI
Last Tuesday, the IndiaAI Mission announced that it had finally selected five projects through the 'Expression of Interest (EoI)' process, which is the second phase of the 'Safe and Trustworthy AI' pillar. This selection can be seen as a significant endeavor to achieve both the positive utilization of AI technology and the management of its potential risks.
Five Projects Shine Amidst Fierce Competition with Over 400 Proposals
What's fascinating is that this second round of EoI received a staggering number of over 400 proposals from renowned academic institutions, innovative startups, capable research organizations, and civil society! Truly, many individuals have shown their passion for building safe and trustworthy AI. 🔥
To objectively evaluate these proposals, a committee composed of numerous experts was formed, and as a result, the following five projects were ultimately selected:
- Development of Deepfake Detection Tools: Teams from IIT Jodhpur (CI) & IIT Madras, and IIT Kharagpur will accelerate the development of deepfake detection tools. With the increasing misuse of deepfake technology, this is a critical area.
- Bias Mitigation Solutions: Digital Futures Lab and Karya teams will develop solutions to mitigate bias in AI models. This is expected to greatly assist AI in making fair and inclusive decisions.
- Penetration Testing and Evaluation: Teams from IIT Mandi & Himachal Pradesh Forensic Services Directorate, along with Globals ITES Pvt Ltd and IIIT Dharwad, will focus on penetration testing and evaluation to enhance the security of AI systems. Proactively identifying and addressing system vulnerabilities is essential.
