This weather change is due to the islands being under the influence of a low-pressure system. It's as if a large mass of clouds has moved towards France, affecting the Balearic Islands as well.

Indeed, from Tuesday afternoon at 8 PM to Wednesday morning at 8 AM, quite a significant amount of rain fell in some parts of the island. According to meteorological agency data, rain was observed in the following areas:

• Son Servera: 22 liters per square meter
• Muro: 21 liters per square meter
• Colònia de Sant Pere: 20 liters per square meter
• Pollença, Puerto de Pollença, Lluc, Faro de Capdepera: 10 liters per square meter
