Hello everyone!

Do you know Mallorca, the beautiful Mediterranean island in Spain? It's usually famous for its warm sunshine and blue seas, but recently, news has emerged that a very special and unusual winter landscape has visited this place, piquing my interest greatly! I delved into the details as it was described as looking like a painting. 🧐

1. A 'Winter Guest' Arrives on a Mediterranean Island: First Snowfall in Mallorca! 🌨️

In early January of this year, Mallorca experienced unusually cold weather. Specifically, on the night of January 6th, Spain's 'Día de Reyes' (Epiphany), an extraordinary winter scene unfolded in Mallorca. During the early morning hours, the first snowfall of the year was recorded on the island's renowned Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. 😮

Especially in the higher altitudes, the peaks were completely covered in white snow, creating a magnificent spectacle. This is a rare sight in Mallorca, making it feel even more special. Snowfall began on the afternoon of January 5th, with snow starting to accumulate from an altitude of 800 meters above sea level. Although the snowfall on Epiphany day was not as abundant as on the 5th, the sight of the mountains painted white once again ignited keen interest among mountain and weather enthusiasts. ✨

2. Intense Cold Accompanies Snow, Blanketing Mallorca 🥶

Along with the beautiful snow-covered scenery, a severe cold spell also arrived in Mallorca. In early January, Mallorca experienced very low temperatures, even leading to the issuance of a yellow frost warning. The strong northerly winds that began blowing on Monday evening, combined with the low temperatures, further reduced the perceived temperature. 🌬️

Temperatures in many parts of the island dropped below 5°C, and in exposed areas, the wind chill was significantly lower, a truly unusual occurrence for a warm Mediterranean island. Snow is reportedly still preserved in the higher regions of the Serra de Tramuntana, suggesting that this magnificent snowy landscape can be appreciated for a little longer.
