Why is the Live Service Game Strategy Stumbling?
To be honest, PlayStation's live service game strategy has left much to be desired in various aspects. 😟 Even with the most optimistic interpretation, a multitude of complex situations are intertwined.
From canceled projects, to Concord's discontinuation, Marathon's delay, and the lack of substantive information on Fairgames… It's natural for the entire community to question why such a rush into the live service market. 🤷♀️
Of course, I don't believe PlayStation's attempt to create its own live service games is inherently wrong. However, aiming to launch over 12 games from the outset might have been a rather ambitious decision.
Remaining Anticipated Titles: Marathon and Fairgames
According to the information revealed so far, among the live service games initially planned for release (excluding sports titles), Marathon and Fairgames are the ones yet to be launched. 🎮
Marathon is already facing a challenging path due to various controversies, leadership changes, negative player feedback, and an uncertain release schedule extending to 2026. 😥
As for Fairgames… despite knowing of its existence since 2023, we haven't received enough information to form any opinion. 🧐
